Okyeame Quophi has
cautioned against distorting facts claiming that Sarkodie isn’t the first
Ghanaian artiste to stage a sell-out concert at the Apollo Theatre in the US.
According to
him, the now defunct Akyeame set that record some 15 years ago and not Sarkodie
as a being suggested.
Facts:
Last Saturday,
about 1,500 music lovers trooped the Apollo Theatre to be a part of Sarkodie’s
HistoryInTheMaking concert.
The event
witnessed performances from Sarkodie and several other musicians from Ghana and
Nigeria including Kwaw Kese, Banky W,EL and Bisa Kdei.
Unfortunately, Samini,
Efya, Joey B, Pappy Kojo, Ice Prince and Obrafuor couldn’t make it to the
concert due to issues ranging from travel documents and schedules.
Many have
praised Sarkodie for staging a sold-out show in the US but okyeame Quophi has
dismissed the praise-singing on his facebook page saying his former group
together with Dadddy Lumba set that record in the year 2000.
